Why Theo started The Financial Sciences Company
Theo is an engineer by trade. He earned his engineering degree from Texas A&M University, and the training shaped how he works: a dedication to the details, care in choosing the right approach before solving a problem, and the ability to dive deep into complex issues and work them through to a solution.
He trained as a financial advisor at Merrill, where he got his footing in the business. From there he moved into raising capital, which put him across the table from investors of every size, from individuals investing modest sums to institutional pension investors.
The contrast was hard to miss. The largest investors, the institutions, the family offices, the high-net-worth individuals, invest with a structure, a discipline, and a level of access that most families are never offered. Not because families are less careful with their money. Because the offer rarely reaches them.
Theo founded The Financial Sciences Company in 2024 to change that for the families who work with him, so they can invest the way institutions, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals do. He thinks of good advice as an art and a science. The art is the relationship: knowing a family well enough to know what the money is for. The science is the engineer’s part, planning and portfolio management made as efficient as possible and fitted to each client’s situation. The firm takes its name from the second half.
